Stanley Eguma out to mastermind ABS’ downfall
Stanley Eguma, technical manager of Rivers United, says a win
over newly-promoted ABS FC in Thursday’s rescheduled Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL) match is vital for their hopes
of improving their position on the log.
United’s results in recent weeks have been far from impressive and
the club is currently in 19th place in the 20-team NPFL.
The experienced trainer has now underlined the importance of
garnering maximum points against the new boys at the Yakubu
Gowon Stadium on Thursday.
“We are really preparing for the game (against ABS because) a
t this stage we need good results,” Geguma told supersport.com
“We need to win, especially at home; our position on the log is low
and we really need to get these three points to start moving up.
“I know ABS is a very strong, young and energetic team; they have
a lot of youthful players and can cause an upset on Thursday.
“We have to work very hard and not take them for granted.
“We have to work hard, put our act together and secure all three
points against ABS; that’s our mission now,” he said.
Rivers United have amassed 14 out of a possible 42 points this season
